The University of Cape Town, founded in 1829, nestles on the slopes of Table Mountain, with its back to the sea, looking north up the vast African continent. In 2007 there were more than 50 000 students at UCT. UCT is proud of its liberal traditions which have seen it retain academic and social credibility during the turbulent apartheid years with which SA was cruelly burdened for four decades. It is these traditions which have now served as such a strong foundation for the transformation of UCT to serve the needs of a broader cross-section of SA’s peoples. Read about the Shipping Law Unit and the shipping law courses offered at UCT. |
